    Babu Owino Released On Bail After Spending Two Nights In Jail

    Babu OwinoBabu Owino, Embakasi East Mp has been released on bail after pleading not guilty to three counts of subversion, offensive conduct and incitement to violence.

    The ODM legislator has been freed on a cash bail of Ksh. 500,000 and two sureties of Sh. 1 million each.

    The judges have following deliberations ruled that the prosecution did not present compelling reasons to keep him locked up.

    Owino was arrested on Monday for referring to the President as ‘mtoto wa mbwa’ during a campaign rally in Dagoretti on 24 September.

    The charge attracts a 7 year jail term which could lead to him losing his parliamentary seat.
