Early Life
Baekhyun was born Byun Baek-hyun on May 6, 1992, in Bucheon. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began training as a singer when he was around 11 years old.
During his teenage years, Baekhyun served as the lead vocalist of a band called Honsusangtae, which won a local music competition. He also studied piano under Kim Hyun-woo and practiced martial arts, eventually earning a third-degree black belt in Hapkido.
While preparing for entrance exams at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, he was discovered by a talent scout from SM Entertainment, which later signed him as a trainee.
Rise to Fame with EXO
In 2012, Baekhyun was introduced as the ninth member of Exo, one of the most successful K-pop groups of the modern era. The group debuted with the EP Mama and gained international recognition with their 2013 album XOXO.
EXO went on to release several successful albums including Ex’Act and Obsession, while producing global hits such as Growl, Overdose, Love Me Right, Monster, and Power.
