Bailey Zimmerman is an American country music singer-songwriter born on January 27, 2000, in Louisville, Illinois.
Raised in a blue-collar environment, Zimmerman’s early life was shaped by his father’s trucking business, where long road trips introduced him to country music, and his mother’s love for hair metal, which influenced his gritty, raspy vocal style.
Before his music career took off, Zimmerman worked in the meat-packing industry and later on a union gas pipeline in West Virginia after graduating from North Clay High School in 2018.
His transition to music began unexpectedly when he started posting videos on TikTok, initially to promote his stepbrother’s truck lift business, Top Notch Metal Worx.
A video of him singing Black Stone Cherry’s “Stay” on Snapchat caught the attention of songwriter Gavin Lucas, sparking a collaboration that launched his meteoric rise in the country music scene.
Siblings
Bailey grew up with three siblings, an older brother named Dalton, a younger brother named Nicholas Eugene, and a stepbrother named John.
His parents, Kristi Bailey-Haerr and Donald Zimmerman, divorced when he was ten years old, and his mother later remarried, bringing John into the family.
His stepbrother John played a significant role in his early career, as Bailey worked with him at Top Notch Metal Worx, a welding business that inspired Bailey’s initial TikTok presence.
Career
Zimmerman’s career took off in 2020 when he began sharing original music on TikTok, starting with “Never Comin’ Home,” which garnered over a million views within hours.
This viral success prompted him to quit his pipeline job and invest $3,000, borrowed partly from his mother, to record the track professionally in Nashville.

Released on February 3, 2021, “Never Comin’ Home” reached the top 20 on Spotify’s Viral Chart in the United States.
His breakout single, “Fall in Love,” dropped on February 11, 2022, becoming the fastest debut single to hit number one on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart since 2015, peaking at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Follow-up singles “Rock and a Hard Place” and “Where It Ends” further solidified his place in country music, with the former breaking records for the longest climb to the top 10 by a soloist in Billboard Hot 100 history.
In October 2022, he released his debut EP, Leave the Light On, which debuted in the top ten of the Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums charts.
His first full-length album, Religiously. The Album., released on May 12, 2023, became the biggest streaming debut for a country album in history and featured 11 tracks co-written by Zimmerman.
His sophomore album, Different Night Same Rodeo, was announced for release on August 8, 2024, with singles like “Holy Smokes” and “New to Country” already making waves.
Zimmerman’s career also includes high-profile collaborations, such as “Strong Enough” with the Jonas Brothers and “Won’t Back Down” for the Fast X soundtrack, alongside opening for Morgan Wallen’s 2023 One Night at a Time World Tour and headlining his own Religiously. The Tour. in 2024.
Accolades
In 2022, Zimmerman was named Billboard’s number two Top New Country Artist and number four Top New Artist across all genres, reflecting his massive streaming success with nearly 2 billion career streams.
His singles “Fall in Love” and “Rock and a Hard Place” both achieved RIAA Platinum certifications in 2022, a rare feat for a debut artist. Religiously.
The Album. received Platinum certification by November 2023, and its single “Religiously” became his third number-one hit on Country Airplay, making him the first male artist since Carrie Underwood in 2006 to spend six weeks atop the chart with only two promoted singles.
Zimmerman earned nominations for Best New Male Artist of the Year and Male Video of the Year at the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards, as well as nods from the CMT Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and People’s Choice Country Awards.
