BASATA have maintained the ban on the song ‘Mwanza’ and asked Wasafi record label and the artists to edit the song or throw it out all together.
Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny have been charged together with their record label Wasafi Classic Baby, and fined for releasing the song ‘Mwanza’.
The three entities have been fined TSh3 million (Ksh134,000) each for releasing the song despite knowing that the lyrics go against Tanzania’s laws and moral standards.

In a meeting before with BASATA on Tuesday, Rayvanny was asked if he could play or sing the song lyrics before his parents and his answer was no.
Basata boss Godfrey Mngereza maintained that the song is dirty and dismissed Diamond’s request for the song to be played after the watershed period.
