Battle For 2022 Succession Heats Up As Luhya Seek To Edge Out Mt. Kenya For Deputy Seat

The Luhya community are not leaving anything to chance after staying in the political cold for years now that the 2022 succession battle gears up.

The main contender for the top seat remain the incumbent Deputy President William Ruto. The Mt. Kenya region has declared interest in having his deputy come from the region, a move that has already sparked internal wars among politicians from the region.

This has seen a section of the leaders touted to be closer to the powers that be declare that the number two will not be handed to anyone on a silver plate but that the people will choose through the ballot.

The Western voting block is also keen to be part of the government that has eluded them for sometime.

Sirisia MP John Waluke has claimed there are plans to unite the community under Jubilee ahead of the next general election and that talks are underway on who will deputize Ruto when that time comes.

Possible names include current Water and irrigation CS Eugene Wamalwa though sources whisper to Kahawa Tungu that Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula is already warming up to Ruto.

The MP claimed Ruto was aware the Luhya are angling for number two seat and added that the community have no hope in ODM or even parties led by their very own Amani (led by Mudavadi) or Wetangula’s Ford Kenya.
