Bethany Louise Mooney, commonly known as Beth Mooney, is an Australian professional cricketer born on 14 January 1994 in Shepparton, Victoria.
A left-handed batter and skilled wicket-keeper, she has represented the Australian national team across all three formats of the game since her international debut in 2016.
At the domestic level, she has played for Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League, as well as for the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League.
Known for her consistency, composure under pressure, and ability to anchor or accelerate innings, Mooney rose to become one of the world’s leading batters in women’s cricket.
Siblings
Beth has an older brother named Tom Mooney and a younger sister named Gabrielle Mooney.
Growing up, the siblings shared a close bond, with backyard cricket games forming a regular part of family life in Shepparton.
It was through Tom that Beth first formally entered the sport; shortly before her eighth birthday, she filled in for his under-11 team at Kialla Lakes Cricket Club when they were short a player, an experience that sparked her lasting passion for the game.
Gabrielle works as an occupational therapist and has maintained a private life while remaining supportive of her sister’s career, including moments such as presenting Beth with a commemorative jersey during a milestone international appearance.
The family later relocated to Hervey Bay in Queensland when Beth was ten, where the siblings continued to grow 8up together amid outdoor activities and sports.

Career
Mooney’s cricket journey began in Victoria and developed further after the family’s move to Queensland.
She progressed through junior pathways, including zone and state teams, while also playing boys’ cricket due to limited girls’ options in her area.
She made her domestic debut for Queensland at a young age and later represented Western Australia.
Internationally, she debuted in T20Is against India in January 2016 and in ODIs against New Zealand the following month, with her Test debut coming against England in the 2017 Women’s Ashes.
Mooney established herself as a reliable opener and middle-order option, contributing significantly to Australia’s dominant era.
She has been part of multiple successful campaigns, including ICC Women’s T20 World Cup triumphs, the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup, and gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Domestically, she has featured in Women’s Big Bash League title-winning sides and taken on leadership responsibilities with the Perth Scorchers.

Mooney has accumulated numerous individual and team honours throughout her career.
She has been a key member of Australia’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup-winning teams in 2018, 2020, 2023, and 2026, as well as the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup and the Commonwealth Games gold medal side in 2022.
Individually, she was named Player of the Tournament at the 2020 and 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cups and earned Player of the Match awards in World Cup finals.
She has won the prestigious Belinda Clark Award, recognising Australia’s best female cricketer of the year, on multiple occasions including 2021 and 2023.
Additional accolades include being named Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World in 2020 and 2022, ICC Women’s T20I Player of the Year and Emerging Player of the Year in 2017, and Women’s Big Bash League Player of the Tournament in 2016–17.
She has also received recognition such as Commonwealth Games Player of the Gold Medal Match in 2022 and various player-of-the-match and ranking achievements that underscore her consistent excellence.
