Antwan André Patton, professionally known as Big Boi, is an acclaimed American rapper, record producer, songwriter, and actor.
Born on February 1, 1975, in Savannah, Georgia, he rose to prominence as one half of the influential Southern hip-hop duo OutKast, alongside André 3000.
Patton spent much of his early childhood in Savannah before relocating to Atlanta to live with his aunt, where he attended Tri-Cities High School and met his future collaborator.
His grandmother played a key role in sparking his love for music by sending him and his siblings to purchase 45 records, exposing him to a variety of sounds that would later shape his eclectic style.

Career
Big Boi’s career launched in the early 1990s when he and André 3000 formed OutKast in Atlanta.

After the duo’s hiatus in 2007, Big Boi pursued a solo path, signing with Def Jam Recordings.
His debut solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty (2010), received strong reviews and commercial success, peaking at number three on the Billboard 200.
Subsequent releases, including Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (2012) and Boomiverse (2017), showcased his continued evolution as an artist, blending funk, hip-hop, and experimental elements.

In 2025, OutKast was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing their legacy.
Other honors include the City of East Point, Georgia’s Global Icon Award and Key to the City in 2021, recognizing his contributions to music and his hometown roots.
