Tortured and detained Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi WIne is all set to return to Uganda after seeking medical treatment in the US.

Speaking to the Guardian, Bobi will arrive on Thursday amid fears of the government doing “terrible things” to him.

He said that he will go back to his home country to prove that the “power of the people is greater than the people in power.”

“If I think about the dangers that face me, it is crazy to go back. But I want to be home. There are 40 million people who need hope so I will go and meet them no matter what,” Wine told the Guardian.

While in the waiting lounge here in Amsterdam, I just saw the @PoliceUg spokesman Emilian Kayima & other senior police officers announcing that they will only allow my immediate family members to receive me from Entebbe Airport. They also said they will escort me to my home…. pic.twitter.com/YUbXf0KS3F

Reports indicate that the Yoweri Museveni led government has already heightened security in Kampala ahead of his arrival.

The Observer reports that military personnel could be dispatched to his home.

“There’s no clearance whatsoever – but the law is very clear that; if anyone is planning any procession, they should seek clearance from police. And if you don’t get, anything you do after that shall be arrested,” The Observer quoted police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire.

The singer turned politician left the country on September 1 after weeks of detention and harassment by police.

Next month the legislator will face trial for treason and if found guilty will result in a death sentence.

But it has been said that the illegal guns supposed to serve as evidence have since gone missing.
