The body of a boy aged one and eight-months-old and who had gone missing was retrieved from a water well at a residential apartment in Riruta area, Nairobi.

The boy went missing on January 24 and the family had been looking for him in vain. A day later, the body was found floating in the water well at the residential apartment.

It is believed he slipped into the well by accident, police said. Police said they are also investigating if he was killed and the body dumped in the well.

The body was retrieved from the water and moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said.

Elsewhere in Ekwanda, Luanda, Vihiga County, a body of a man was found dumped on a footpath after a suspected murder.

The body is believed to be of a woman, police said.

The body had decomposed and was picked up to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy,

In Gambogi area, Vihiga County, a man was killed in a confrontation over land. The assailants are said to be relatives of the deceased identified as Mathias Kahaga, 53.

They had argued over a piece of land in the area before it turned confrontational.

The police said the assailants used pangas to slash Kahaga fatally. The two pangas were recovered at the scene as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

The assailants escaped the scene and police said they were pursuing them for grilling and prosecution with murder.

Elsewhere in Turkwel, West Pokot County, two men were trapped in a gold mining site.

The two were digging the area for gold proceeds when the walls collapsed and trapped them. Police said the rescue mission went on into the night and they had not recovered them on Monday. There were hopes to recover the bodies on Monday, officials said.

Such cases have been rampant at gold mining sites amid calls for safety measures to address the trend.
