An 18-year-old Ugandan teenager who had been missing for a week was found dead floating in River Malaba in Teso North Sub-County, Busia County.

According to police, the body of Fahad Munini was discovered on Wednesday afternoon in the Amoni area.

Police visited the scene and established that the teenager had disappeared on the night of May 20, 2026. Efforts by relatives and residents to trace him had been unsuccessful until his body was spotted floating in the river.

Police officers, assisted by members of the public, retrieved the body from the water. Authorities said the deceased had no visible physical injuries.

The scene was documented and processed before the body was moved to Teso North Sub-County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

And a middle-aged man believed to be about 35 years old was found brutally murdered and his body dumped along the Kerra–Rianguru murram road at Omosocho Village in Rigena Location, Nyamache Sub-County, Kisii County.

Police officers visited the scene after the body was discovered early Wednesday morning by passers-by.

The deceased, whose identity is yet to be established, was lying in a supine position in the middle of the road.

He was dressed in two heavy jackets, black trousers and black rubber shoes stained with blood.

Police said the body bore severe mutilations, including deep cuts on the right palm, the abdomen and extensive facial injuries.

The victim’s nose, ears and lips had been chopped off, both eyes gouged out, while the head and face had reportedly been skinned. Part of the intestines was protruding from abdominal wounds.

Recovered at the scene were a Sh100 note and two pieces of paper containing anonymous telephone numbers.

Investigators believe the body may have been dumped at the scene after the killing occurred elsewhere.

Detectives are also pursuing the possibility that the murder could be linked to suspected witchcraft practices.

The body was moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending identification and postmortem examination.

Elsewhere, police in Masaba South Sub-County are investigating the murder of a 94-year-old woman found dead inside her house in Kisii County.

The deceased, identified as Perpetua Bosibori Ondieki, was discovered lying lifeless on her bed at her home within the Ramasaha area on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the body was found by her 12-year-old grandson, Nyakweba James, who lives in the same house but sleeps in a separate room. The boy had reportedly gone to check on his grandmother at around 11am when he found her lying on the bed facing upwards.

Police said the deceased had a visible injury on the left eye, whose eyelid had been completely skinned off.

Preliminary investigations indicate she was last seen alive on Tuesday night after taking supper before retiring to bed.

Investigators noted that the doors and windows of the house were intact and nothing had been stolen, leaving the motive of the killing unclear.

The body was moved to St Catherine Ichuni Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination as investigations continue.
