Body of two-year-old boy found dumped in forest after murder in Vihiga

Police are investigating a murder in an incident where the body of a two-year-old child was found in a forest in Serem, Vihiga County.

The body was found in Kavirondo forest, which is reserved for the Tiriki Traditional circumcision exercise in Jemojeji village on Sunday, November 8, police said.

The deceased was well dressed and wrapped in a blue and white dotted leso when the body was found.

Police said the body had visible injuries on the face and the right leg is believed to have been scolded by hot water.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.

The motive of the murder was not known immediately.

And a herder who was missing was found dead with gunshot wounds in Bura area, Tana River County.

The herder was missing after he went to pursue his missing camels on November 4, 2025, police said.

Four days later, the search mission for the herder ended with the discovery of the decomposed body.

Police suspect that the deceased Muhamad Abdi Ali was shot and killed by gunmen who had stolen his camels that he was searching for.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Elsewhere in Cheptiret, Uasin Gishu County’s Ngeria area, one Moses Emoru Ochilia, 67 was found dead and found lying in a pool of blood outside his house.

The deceased is believed to have been attacked and killed by his own son who is at large, police said.

The body had visible injuries in the scalp, left eye and hand.

A machete that was used in the attack was found at the scene.

Police said the son was earlier on seen with the same weapon in the compound and he remains a prime suspect in the murder.

The motive of the murder was not known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
