Bouncer stabs and kills bodaboda rider in Kisii bar altercation

A boda boda rider was stabbed and killed in an altercation in a bar in Igare area, Kisii County.

The incident left one Conlias Onchari, 27 dead. Police said the assailant was a bouncer at the Duke’s Lounge Resort.

He is said to have disagreed with the deceased in the bar prompting the fatal altercation.

It is believed the deceased was killed in one of the cubes in the bar where police found blood stains.

The assailant escaped the scene after the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as police pursued the assailant. Police said they had enhanced patrols in the area following reports other riders planned to retaliate the incident.

Such cases where bouncers attack revelers after a disagreement have been on the rise amid calls for parties to solve their differences amicably.

A number of bouncers are facing murder charges over the incidents. Others are facing assault and robbery with violence charges, police said.

In Kapsokwony, Bungoma County, one Johnson Manyonge, 60 was found murdered in his house. The body had visible cuts on the stomach and head which had been crushed.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established, police said.

Police said the deceased had reported some suspects to the area officials for harvesting his honey from his piece of land without his knowledge and the matter was under probe.

In the nearby Kaptama area, Bungoma County, one David Kibet, 28 was found dead with bullet wounds in the chest. The body was found in his house. Police said the deceased had earlier on assaulted two men in a love triangle saga.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

It is not clear if the death is linked to the earlier assault and the love triangle saga. Police said they are investigating the incident.

The police said they want to establish who was behind the shooting. A spent cartridge was recovered at the scene and taken for ballistic analysis, police said.
