A five-year-old boy died in a tragic incident at Huduma ‘A’ Village in Yenga Sublocation, Ugenya Sub-County, Siaya County.

According to the police, the child’s grandmother reported that she found her grandson hanging from a tree near the family’s fence at around 1:45 p.m on Monday.

Police officers who visited the scene, found the boy lying lifeless on the ground with a rope still tied to the tree.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the child had been playing alone near the fence using a rope that had been tied to the tree. It is believed that while playing, the rope accidentally became wrapped around his neck and tightened, causing him to hang.

The boy’s grandmother reportedly discovered him and immediately attempted to rescue him, but her efforts were unsuccessful.

Police processed and documented the scene. No visible physical injuries were observed on the body apart from those associated with the hanging.

The body was moved to Same-Day Classmate Funeral Parlour for preservation pending a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, although authorities currently suspect it was a tragic accident.

Meanwhile, police launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was discovered along the banks of the Ruaka River in the Gituamba area of Lucky Summer, Nairobi.

According to the police, the discovery was reported by locals.

Police found the body of an African male adult lying on the riverbank. Investigators noted visible physical injuries on the deceased’s forehead.

The scene was processed and documented by CSI officers before the body was retrieved and transferred to the Nairobi City Mortuary.

Police said the deceased has not yet been identified. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death and determine whether foul play was involved.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities seek to identify the victim and trace the circumstances that led to his death.
