Boyfriend arrested after woman dies in fall from fifth floor in Kayole

Police in Nairobi’s Kayole area are investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman who fell from the fifth floor of a residential apartment building following an alleged argument with her boyfriend.

A team responded to the scene after a resident reported hearing a loud bang at about 5.40pm on July 11. The witness initially believed it was an electrical fault but, upon investigating, found the young woman lying on the ground floor in a pool of blood.

The deceased, identified as Beraka Wambui, sustained multiple injuries consistent with a fall and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Wambui had reportedly argued with her 22-year-old boyfriend, shortly before the incident.

Crime Scene Investigation officers from Kayole processed and documented the scene. Police also recovered household items bearing blood stains from the apartment and retained them as exhibits for forensic examination.

The boyfriend was arrested and remains in police custody as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The body was removed from the scene pending a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.

Such incidents where people fall from higher floors have been on the rise. Police are investigating two other similar incidents that happened last week in Kasarani and Kilimani area, Nairobi.

Meanwhile, police in Homa Bay County launched investigations into the murder of a 50-year-old man whose body was found abandoned in a thicket near Ombek Trading Centre in Rachuonyo South Sub-County.

The incident was reported on Saturday afternoon after the body was discovered.

The deceased was identified as Samuel Ochieng Adiengo, 50, of Ombek Village in Kadel Kamidigo Sub-location, Kodera South Location.

Police said the body was found in a thicket about 30 metres from a house belonging to a local. The deceased had visible bruises on his back.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Samuel was allegedly killed inside the suspect’s house before his body was dragged into the nearby thicket in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.

The motive for the killing has not yet been established.

Crime scene investigators processed the scene before the body was moved to Rachuonyo Level 5 Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The prime suspect is on the run, and DCI detectives have launched a manhunt to trace and arrest him as investigations continue.
