Brad Paisley, born October 28, 1972, in Glen Dale, West Virginia, is an American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

Raised in a small town, Paisley’s passion for music was sparked early by his maternal grandfather, Warren Jarvis, who gifted him his first guitar at age eight and taught him to play.

By third grade, he was performing publicly at his church, quickly gaining local attention for his talent.

At 13, he wrote his first song, “Born on Christmas Day,” and formed a band called Brad Paisley and the C-Notes with his guitar teacher, Clarence “Hank” Goddard.

His early performances, including a stint on Jamboree USA, solidified his path toward a music career.

After studying music business at Belmont University in Nashville, Paisley signed with Arista Nashville in 1998, launching a trajectory that would make him one of country music’s most celebrated figures.

    Siblings

Brad has one known sibling, an older brother named Gary Paisley.

However, not much is known about Gary, including his personal life or career pursuits, as he lives a private life compared to his famous brother.

    Career

Paisley’s career began with his 1999 debut album, Who Needs Pictures, which produced his first number-one hit, “He Didn’t Have to Be,” a heartfelt tribute to stepfathers.

The album’s success, selling over one million copies, established him as a rising star.

His follow-up, Part II (2001), featured the humorous “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” cementing his reputation for witty lyricism.

Albums like Mud on the Tires (2003) and Time Well Wasted (2005), both certified double platinum, showcased his ability to blend traditional country with contemporary themes, as seen in hits like “Whiskey Lullaby” with Alison Krauss and “When I Get Where I’m Going” with Dolly Parton.

Paisley’s discography includes 12 studio albums, with his most recent work under EMI Nashville after Arista’s closure in 2023.

He’s charted over 50 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, with 20 reaching number one, including a record-setting 10 consecutive number-one hits from 2006 to 2009.

Beyond music, Paisley has ventured into acting, contributed songs to Pixar’s Cars franchise, and co-founded The Store, a free referral-based grocery store in Nashville with his wife, opened in 2020 to support families in need.

His 2011 autobiography, Diary of a Player, co-written with David Wild, chronicles his musical journey.

    Accolades

Paisley has won three Grammy Awards, starting with Best Country Instrumental Performance for “Throttleneck” in 2007, and has received multiple nominations, including for Best New Artist in 2001.

His 14 Academy of Country Music Awards and 14 Country Music Association Awards include honors like Male Vocalist of the Year (2008) and Entertainer of the Year (2010).

Paisley’s induction into the Grand Ole Opry in 2001, at age 28, marked a significant milestone, recognizing his commitment to the genre’s traditions.

His music videos, such as “Whiskey Lullaby” and “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” have also earned CMA awards for Best Music Video.
