British woman dies after being stung by bees in Taita Taveta

A 52-year-old Briton died after being stung by a swarm of bees at her farm in Taita Taveta County.
Police said Charalyn May De Wet was at her farm in Chumvini area on May 5, 2026 when she was attacked by the bees.
She had toured their farm in the area and was returning home when she was attacked by the bees. Workers and her family responded to the scene and rushed her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was to be moved to Nairobi for preservation and autopsy pending other procedures.
The family said she had been allergic to bee stings and they always carried adrenaline to inject her in case of an attack.
Elsewhere in Yala, Siaya County, a body of a man was found floating on River Yala after a suspected drowning incident.
The body was decomposing when it was discovered on Thursday afternoon, police said. The victim wore a black trouser and the body did not have any visible injuries then and was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification.
In Salama, Laikipia County, the body of one Modeston Kamau was retrieved from a dam after he drowned there.
Police said the body was stuck on the floor of the dam which took two days to find. It was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
And in Madogo area, Tana River County, a two-year-old boy died in a septic tank after he fell therein in an accident.
Police said the boy was with her mother and a neighbour and were seated on a slab covering the septic tank when it suddenly collapsed.
They all fell into the tank as neighbours rushed to their rescue in the March 5 incident. The mother and the neighbour were rescued alive while the boy was found drowned therein. The incident happened outside their house.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said they are investigating the incident.
