Briton robbed of Sh800,000 in love deal gone bad in room in Bamburi

A 32-year-old Briton was robbed of Sh800,000 from his bank account in a love deal that went bad in Bamburi area, Nairobi.
The Briton told the police he had checked into his hotel in the Mtwapa area on October 25, 2025 for a holiday after being invited by a girlfriend he met online.
The victim stayed at the hotel until November 2, 2025 when his girlfriend invited him to her apartment in the Nyali area.
Oblivious of the dangers ahead, he took a taxi to the apartment on the fifth floor.
He was shocked after two men walked to the room ten minutes after he had settled down with his girlfriend. The men impersonated as the husband of the woman and another as a police officer.
They then took him hostage and ordered him to transfer money from his bank account to four mobile phone numbers that they provided which he obliged to.
He told police that after the ordeal, the men escorted him out of the apartment and disappeared on the way. It was then he sought help and reported the matter to the police.
Police visited the scene as part of the probe into the robbery. The team said they were making efforts to trace the said thieves behind the incident and the woman.
The man was not harmed in the drama, police said.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old house girl in Lavington, Nairobi.
The body of Florence Atamba was found on her bed on Tuesday morning long after she had collapsed and died.
Police said the woman had woken up for her normal house chores before she went back to her room where she died. The cause of the death was not immediately established.
Her body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.
