Britt Reid, born April 28, 1985, is a former NFL coach and the son of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

He served as an outside linebackers coach until his contract was not renewed following a DWI incident in 2021 that resulted in severe injuries to a five-year-old girl.

Reid was sentenced to three years in prison in November 2022 but had his sentence commuted on March 1, 2024, allowing him to serve the remainder under house arrest until October 2025.

    Siblings

    Britt has four siblings.

The eldest brother, Garrett Reid, tragically passed away in 2012 due to a heroin overdose.

His eldest sister, Crosby Reid, is known for her musical talents and maintains a low public profile.

The second sister, Drew Ann Reid, also keeps a private life away from the spotlight.

Finally, the youngest brother, Spencer Reid, has pursued a career in football coaching.

    Career

Reid’s journey in football began at a young age, influenced by his father’s long-standing career as an NFL coach.

After playing college football at the University of Arizona, he transitioned into coaching.

In 2009, he started as a Practice Squad Coach Intern with the Philadelphia Eagles, where his father was the head coach.

This role allowed him to gain valuable experience and insights into the coaching profession.

In 2013, Reid joined the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff as a defensive quality control coach.

His responsibilities included analyzing game film, assisting with defensive game plans, and working closely with players to improve their performance.

Over the years, he was promoted to various roles within the organization.

In 2019, Reid became the outside linebackers coach for the Chiefs.

In this position, he was responsible for developing players at that position and contributing to the overall defensive strategy of the team.

His coaching tenure coincided with a highly successful period for the Chiefs, culminating in their victory in Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.

This win marked the franchise’s first championship in 50 years and solidified Reid’s reputation as a promising young coach.

Despite his professional success, Reid’s career took a significant downturn due to a serious legal incident.

In February 2021, he was involved in a car crash while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The accident resulted in severe injuries to a five-year-old girl and raised significant public outcry regarding his actions.

Following this incident, Reid faced legal repercussions. He was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and later pleaded guilty.

In November 2022, he was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in the accident.

His sentencing effectively ended his coaching career with the Chiefs, as the organization did not renew his contract after the 2020 season.

    Accolades

Reid’s coaching career includes notable achievements, particularly during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He served as the outside linebackers coach and was part of the coaching staff that led the team to victory in Super Bowl LIV in 2020.

Over his eight years in various coaching roles, Reid’s teams compiled a record of 91 wins and 37 losses, achieving a winning percentage of 71.09%.

His playoff record stands at 7 wins and 6 losses.

Reid’s coaching tenure was marked by significant contributions to the Chiefs’ defensive strategies, helping the team secure multiple division titles and playoff appearances.

However, his career ended abruptly following a DWI incident in early 2021, which overshadowed his professional accomplishments.
