A 42-year-old woman was found murdered near Kithyoko River Bridge in Masinga Sub-County, Machakos County.
According to police, the incident happened on May 12, 2026 after they received information that a woman’s body had been spotted lying near the bridge.
Police officers visited the scene and identified the deceased as Winfred Kanyaa, aged about 42 years.
Investigators established that the body was lying by the roadside near Kithyoko River Bridge in Kithyoko Sublocation and the deceased had visible head injuries and bruises on the right arm.
Police noted that her personal belongings were recovered intact at the scene.
According to information provided by her sister the deceased was a businesswoman who sold wares in various open-air markets.
She was reportedly last seen alive on the night of May 11, 2026 at around 10pm when she boarded a motor vehicle from Mwingi heading to Kithyoko.
Her body was discovered the following morning.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem examination as investigations into the killing continue.
Meanwhile, police in Makueni County are investigating a sudden death incident after a 50-year-old man was found dead outside a cyber café in Mukuyuni within Makueni Sub-County.
The deceased was identified as Charles Ndonye Musyoki.
Police said the man was discovered lying on the ground outside a cyber café opposite Mukuyuni Police Station at around 8am.
The incident was reported by a worker at the premises who alerted neighbouring traders before informing police.
Officers accompanied by Crime Scene Investigations personnel visited and documented the scene.
Preliminary investigations established that the deceased had left his home on May 11, 2026 at around 1pm heading to Mukuyuni Market.
At around 3pm, he reportedly sent his wife a mobile phone, meat and Sh200 through a boda boda rider but failed to return home afterward.
Family members waited for him throughout the night before receiving news of his death the following morning.
Police observed bruises on the deceased’s back and the back of the head, which investigators suspect may have resulted from a fall.
The body was moved to Makueni County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
