Despite his current acclaim, he was not always a standout schoolboy player, rarely making the school’s ‘A’ team and never attending the prestigious Craven Week.

However, his potential was undeniable, and after school, he took the chance to join the Blue Bulls Academy – a move that would change his life.
His professional debut in January 2022 was a sign of things to come.
Playing for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup against Western Province, the 19-year-old scored a try on his debut.
From there, his career accelerated at breakneck speed. Within months, he was called up to the Springboks for the Rugby Championship and scored a try on his international debut against Australia in Sydney.
He became the second youngest player ever to earn a senior cap for South Africa.
By 2023, he was a key part of the Springboks squad that defended their title at the Rugby World Cup in France, scoring a try in the pool stage against Tonga.
He continues to be a vital player for the Bulls, reaching the milestone of 50 appearances for the franchise in early 2025.
