Car wash worker dies after electric shock in Mombasa

A 20-year-old car wash worker died after he was electrocuted while cleaning a high-pressure washing machine at a car wash in Aldina, Mombasa County.
The deceased, identified as Joackim Onyango, was cleaning the electric pressure washer at Aldina Car Wash and Parking on Sunday evening when the incident occurred.
Police officers visited the scene and established that Onyango had suffered an electric shock while cleaning the machine.
His colleagues rushed him to Mikindani Hospital for emergency treatment, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Crime Scene Investigation officers photographed and processed the scene as police commenced investigations into the incident.
Onyango’s body was later moved to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it was being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the electrocution.
Meanwhile, police in Nairobi have retrieved the decomposing body of an unidentified man from the Nairobi River in the Shauri Moyo area.
The body was discovered on Monday, September 7, 2026, and the incident was reported to police through the Controller at about 8:30am.
Police, retrieved and processed the body at the scene.
Preliminary examination did not reveal any visible injuries on the body, although police said investigations would continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The body, which was already decomposing, was moved to the Nairobi Funeral Home pending a postmortem examination and efforts to establish the man’s identity.
Police are expected to use the autopsy findings and other investigations to determine the cause and circumstances of the death.
The incident was recorded at Shauri Moyo Police Station under Buruburu Sub-County, Nairobi East Sub-Region.
And a 23-year-old boda boda mechanic was found stabbed to death in a Nakuru estate on Monday morning, with police arresting a female suspect as investigations into the killing began.
The body of Alvin Okelo Oyugi was discovered along a street in Zanzibar Estate, Nakuru North, after a resident reported seeing a man lying motionless on the road at about 7am.
Police officers visited the scene and found Oyugi lying on his back in a pool of blood.
Police said he had sustained three deep stab wounds on his right thigh.
A mobile phone was recovered from his pocket, while a mountain bike bearing blood stains was found beside the body.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Oyugi had been drinking at Feel Easy Bar at about 11pm on Sunday in the company of two unidentified men and a woman, a student at the Kenya Medical Training College’s Nakuru Main Campus.
The woman was arrested and was in police custody as investigations continued.
According to police, Oyugi and the two unidentified men later escorted Sabaot from the bar to the gate of her residence. He was subsequently found dead along the estate streets.
Investigators are working to establish what happened after the group reached the woman’s residence and the motive for the killing.
The scene was processed, with the mountain bike and mobile phone taken as exhibits for further analysis.
Police suspect Oyugi may have died from excessive bleeding caused by the deep stab wounds.
His body was moved to the County Municipal Mortuary pending a postmortem examination as detectives continue with investigations to identify the other two men who were reportedly with him before his death.
