Car wash worker dies after suspected stabbing in Meru

A 25-year-old man has died after he was allegedly stabbed while working at a car wash yard in Kaciongo area, Maua, Meru County.
The incident was reported on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after a member of the public received a call informing him that his employee, identified as Muthamia, had been found lying beside the road in Kaciongo.
He told police he rushed the injured man to Nyambene Sub-County Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. He later died while undergoing treatment.
Police officers who visited the hospital found the deceased lying on a hospital bed with a single stab wound on his right shoulder.
Police suspect that Muthamia may have been stabbed by a colleague with whom he worked at a car wash yard in Kaciongo. The motive for the alleged attack remains unknown.
Crime Scene Investigation officers processed and documented the scene as police launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The body was moved to the Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
And a 52-year-old man was hacked to death by two assailants armed with pangas after leaving a funeral in Pala, Ndhiwa Sub-County, Homa Bay County.
Police identified the deceased as Jomo Omari, who was attacked at Pala Centre shortly after midnight on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
According to police Omari and his wife were travelling from a funeral at Kamenya Village in Koguta Location at around 11.30pm on Monday when they were allegedly followed by an unknown motorcycle.
Upon reaching Pala Centre, the couple encountered two men armed with pangas who stopped them and attacked Omari, repeatedly cutting him on the head.
His wife raised an alarm and fled into a nearby sugarcane plantation for safety as members of the public responded to the commotion.
When she returned to the scene, she found her husband seriously injured. Members of the public helped rush him to Pala Level 4 Hospital, where he was receiving treatment when he succumbed to his injuries.
Police officers visited the hospital at about 4.30am on Tuesday to verify the incident.
The scene was processed by police officers, while Omari’s body was moved to Pala Funeral Home mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police have launched investigations into the killing, including efforts to establish the identity and motive of the attackers.
