Carl Singleton, a British national who had been charged with the murder of a university of Nairobi student three years ago, has been acquitted.
He allegedly committed the crime at their house in Gachie, Kiambu county, on November 19, 2014. Carl had been accused of murdering Agumbi by flushing her life-saving medication for diabetes down the toilet.
Carl was arrested three days later but released without charge and later rearrested on February 5, 2015.
Justice Hedwig Ongudi ruled on Thursday that Carl Singleton had no case in the murder of his late girlfriend, 22 year-old Peris Agumbi.
Agumbi was a student at UoN’s Lower Kabete campus and was found dead in Gigiri on November 22, 2014 after suffering diabetic hypertension and respiratory failure.
Justice Ongudi pointed out that the prosecution failed to call crucial witnesses.
