Human Rights activist Caroline Mwatha’s death has taken a controversial turn as the circumstances of her demise have not been clearly laid out by the police officers, even as the family decries foul play.
It has come to Kahawa Tungu‘s attention that the register of the entrants at City Mortuary has been tempered with.
A clear indication that the slain activist was probably killed and her body booked at the morgue a week after her disappearance.
Within the one week period of her being missing, and Kenyans pushing on social media platforms the #FindCarolineMwatha hashtag, her presumed murderer must have used the time to come up with a narrative fit to explain her sudden disappearance and death.
Despite her body being found at City Mortuary on February 12, Kahawa Tungu discovered that it took the police almost two hours before the ‘abortion’ narrative was fed to the public, claims that her husband has vehemently dismissed.
Speaking to the media while at the City Mortuary, the deceased’s husband, Joshua Ochieng’, affirmed that there is no way his wife could undergo such a procedure as she ‘hated it.’
Additionally, he revealed that the family was puzzled at the way the media started reporting of his wife’s body being found yet they hadn’t confirmed that she was the one.
He added that the deceased body had deep gashing wounds inside the left thigh and her stomach, an indication that the injuries had been inflicted by a sharp object.
It is also questionable how the family had visited the City Mortuary in search of Caroline’s body last week and five days later the body is claimed to have been brought in the same day the family went checking.
The allegations that the slain activist died due to complications that arose as she tried to procure an illegal abortion leaves the public wondering as it was also linked to one Alexander Gitau who is alleged to be her lover from Isiolo.
Speaking on her pregnancy, her husband noted: “And, even if she was pregnant, it could as well be mine. Why? Because the last time I was in Kenya was in late August last year, and we got intimate. If you do your calculation, then the 5-plus months pregnancy that police are alleging could as well be mine. But, what I am sure is she wasn’t pregnant.”
On Wednesday morning, Caroline’s family had camped outside city mortuary awaiting a port mo-term to be carried out on her body.

However, they were to later be informed that the procedure could not be carried out as the government pathologist Johansen Oduor assigned to her case was in Naivasha and that it will be done on Monday.
That information would later be altered as the government ordered that the late’s body would undergo a postmortem on Thursday.
Caroline’s father, Stanlaus Mbai, further expressed his disappointment towards how his daughter’s case is being handles by the police while insisting that there must be foul play in the circumstances under which his daughter died.
