Chief Justice Maraga has promised to effectively and expeditiously deal with corruption cases regardless of the accused person stature in the society.

He was speaking at the opening of official opening of the LSK Annual Conference in Kwale county.

“Corruption cases will not be dragged or adjourned. Culprits must carry their cross irrespective of their status in society,” he said.

He said that the judges will be flown to the different areas in order to vigorously pursue such cases and advocates should read the mood.

He also asked parliament to allocate more funds to the judiciary as they played a pivotal role in the fight against corruption

“Let Parliament realise that the Judiciary offers critical services and should be facilitated to do its work, Budget allocation to the judiciary is minimal and it hampers courts’ operation. With the money we can improve the situation by building washrooms in the courts,” CJ Maraga  said.

He applauded the civil societies for constantly trying to make the constitution subjective by challenging illegalities and encouraged them to keep on doing the same.
