Police in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County, confirmed the cause of death of a foreign student from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) following a post-mortem examination.

The deceased, identified as Li Xianpeng, a 25-year-old student, was previously reported dead in his room at the college on April 8.

A post-mortem examination conducted at MP Shah Hospital.

The medical team concluded that the cause of death was cardiac arrest. They further noted that medications recovered from the deceased’s residence were consistent with treatment for pre-existing cardiovascular conditions.

No external injuries or signs of violence were observed on the body.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased’s family is working closely with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to facilitate repatriation arrangements.

He was pursuing a degree in Agricultural Ecosystem.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, police in Igembe Central Sub-County, Meru County, have launched investigations into a sudden death incident after a 44-year-old man was found dead outside his grandmother’s home in Kautini Village.

The incident was reported at Kangeta Police Station on Sunday morning.

Police officers visited the scene and identified the victim as Kiriinya Ezekiel Kithela, a local barber who operated a barbershop at Kangeta Market.

Preliminary reports indicate that the man had returned home on Saturday night at around 9:00 p.m. while intoxicated. He is said to have visited the toilet before lying down on the ground outside his grandmother’s house, where he reportedly spent the night.

On Sunday morning, family members discovered him unresponsive, with foam oozing from his mouth.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was moved to Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police say further investigations are ongoing, and a comprehensive report will follow.

Sudden death incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.
