Chinese Vice President Han Zheng is set to undertake an official visit to Kenya, South Africa and Seychelles from March 22 to 30, in a move expected to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between China and the three African nations.
The visit follows invitations from Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile, and Seychelles’ Vice President Sebastien Pillay.
Han’s tour comes at a time when China continues to deepen its engagement across Africa through trade, infrastructure development, and strategic partnerships. In Kenya, discussions are expected to focus on ongoing and future projects, including infrastructure, investment, and bilateral cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
In South Africa, Africa’s most industrialized economy, talks are likely to center on trade expansion, energy cooperation, and multilateral coordination, particularly within platforms such as BRICS.
Meanwhile, in Seychelles, a key Indian Ocean nation, the visit is anticipated to highlight maritime cooperation, tourism, and sustainable development initiatives.
The multi-country visit underscores Beijing’s continued diplomatic outreach in Africa and its commitment to strengthening ties with key regional partners.
