Christopher Michael Pratt, born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota, is an American actor known for his charismatic performances in blockbuster films and television series.
Raised in Lake Stevens, Washington, Pratt grew up in a working-class family, with his mother, Kathleen Louise “Kathy” Pratt, employed at a Safeway supermarket, and his father, Daniel Clifton Pratt, working in mining and home remodeling.
Pratt’s early life was marked by frequent relocations, including a stint in Anchorage, Alaska, before his family settled in Washington.
A high school wrestler who placed fifth in a state tournament, Pratt briefly attended community college before dropping out to pursue various jobs, including a brief period as a daytime stripper and a time of homelessness in Maui, Hawaii, where he lived out of a van.
Siblings
Chris has two older siblings, a brother named Daniel “Cully” Pratt and a sister named Angie Pratt.
Cully, a former sergeant with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, retired in 2022 after a career that included eight years of service in the U.S. Army.
He gained some public attention in 2021 when an investigation by Open Vallejo linked him to the Three Percenters, a right-wing militia group, after he posted a wooden carving on social media referencing the movement.
Despite this controversy, Chris has spoken highly of Cully, crediting him as a significant influence on his life and career. In a 2015 interview on The Talk, Pratt described Cully as a supportive figure who keeps him grounded, noting their close bond despite the challenges of fame.
On National Siblings Day in 2024, Pratt shared a heartfelt Instagram post, expressing gratitude for both Cully and Angie, stating, “Wouldn’t want to go through life with anyone else. Cully and Angie… I love you both.”
Angie Pratt, less in the public eye, works in the entertainment industry as a director and producer, notably producing the 2017 short documentary Roll Over and Die.

In 2014, Pratt’s career skyrocketed with leading roles in two major films: voicing Emmet Brickowski in The Lego Movie and starring as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
