A civil society group is challenging the 106 appointments made by President Uhuru Kenyatta in different State Corporations.

The Civil Society Reference Group (CSRG) argues that none of the 106 appointments was done in accordance with Article 73 of the Constitution that requires that selection to such high profile public offices be done “on the basis of personal integrity, competence and suitability.

They claim that the appointments were made as a loyalty reward to the individuals and the appointees will not view the appointments as a national duty hence they will easily engage in graft, nepotism and cronyism

They group has asked the State Law office to nullify the Special Kenya Gazette Notice  on appointment of Chairpersons and directors of State Corporations for being done in complete breach of the Constitution.

The appointments will undermine the President’s  ongoing national efforts to fight graft, they claim.
