His supporters were enraged when Nasa released information that Raila Odinga’s swearing in fete set for today had been postponed.

Social media was awash with utter dismay, anger, disappointment pointing at a corroding support base, dwindling by the day.

Self imposed NRM commander Miguna Miguna even asked NASA to detach itself from NRM as the two differed in ideologies with Miguna avering that NRM would go ahead with the swearing in ceremony.

A supporter was so ticked off, he wrote on a Facebook page that they are determined to swear in Raila Odinga “by force.”

Last evening, in house blame games had set in with a section of ODM bloggers blaming the other Co- Principals of “chickening out” on the ceremony set to inaugurate Raila as the once people’s President.

It has now been revealed that the real force behind Odinga backing out had got nothing to do with pleas from Western Diplomats but his wife Ida Odinga.

Known as tough, Mrs. Odinga is revered and feared by those close to the Premier and is known to under wraps influence a lot of her husband’s political decisions.

Though caught up in nursing her eldest daughter Rosemary Odinga who’s been ailing for a while, she weighed in on the inauguration and is said to have asked the brains behind planning the fête to find someone else to swear in but “not my husband.”

The family is also said to have feared the government would have carried through it’s threat of arresting the NASA leader and charging him with treason.

Odinga is also said to have been worried and concerned over possible massacre of his supporters coupled with the skepticism his co principals purveyed with Wiper clearly indicating the party was unwilling to take part in the inauguration.

According to the Star, even hard liners like Siaya Senator were at pains over what would happen next once Raila is sworn in as President. His possible arrest could have triggered violence that in turn could have seen many lose their lives as NASA could not protect its supporters.

By the time the inauguration was cancelled, only former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and a few others were adamant on holding the fête in Mombasa.
