Mombasa High Court Judge Erick Ogola on Thursday protected Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho from being investigated, arrested or prosecuted over fake academic papers.

In May, the governor was under investigation for forging a KCSE results slip that enabled him pursue a degree course at the University of Nairobi.

He was found to have been issued with two KCSE certificates; one having scored a C+ and the other a D-.

He was also found to have pursued two degree courses at the same time in the Kenya and another in Uganda.

His lawyers, led by Siaya Senator James Orengo rubbished the claims saying that his political opponents were trying to get the ‘Sultan’ disqualified from running for the governor seat.

The county boss admitted to having scored a D- in his KCSE but accused KNEC of falsifying the C- certificate.
