    CS Fred Matiang’i Now Says Assaulted University Students Were Hooligans Hired By Politicians

    Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has ordered for the arrest of 35 students from the University of Nairobi who he alleges were involved in criminal activities within the institutions.He refuted claims that police rough up students at the institution claiming that the people from the social media clips but hired goons.

    Fred Matiang’i claimed that the people who were roughed up were hooligans hired by politicians to participate in unlawful demonstrations.

    H said that the closure of the institution was security measure to avert clashes between the students an the police.

    The Cabinet secretary also said that the police should not be blamed for brutality.

    Clips emerged on social media of police assaulting and frog matching students inside the halls of residence at the University of Nairobi.
