CSs Mbadi, Kinyanjui and Oparanya Lead Fresh Government Appointments

Several Cabinet Secretaries and President William Ruto have made new appointments and reappointments to key government boards and institutions.
In a gazette notice dated January 16, 2026, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi appointed Risper Olick as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Revenue Authority for a period of three years. He also reappointed Hannah Waitherero Muriithi as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation for another three-year term.
Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui appointed Nelson Ributhi Gaichuhie as a Member and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority for a period of three years.
Co-operatives and MSMEs Development Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya reappointed Melissa Ngania as a Member of the Board of the Financial Inclusion Fund for three years.
East African Community, ASALs and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul Moe reappointed Benson Muema Kilonzo as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority for a period of three years.
Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa also reappointed Winnie Tsuma as a Member of the National Environmental Tribunal for another three years.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto appointed Dr John Kipngetich Mosonik as the new Chancellor of Rongo University for a five-year term.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 (1) (a) of the Universities Act, 2012, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint John Kipngetich Mosonik to be the Chancellor of Rongo University for a period of five years with effect from January 16, 2026,” the notice reads.
In the same gazette, the President also reappointed Hannah Waitherero Muriithi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation for another three years.
He further reappointed Phillip Mong’ony as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the State Corporations Advisory Committee for a three-year term, and reappointed Muyumba Simon Indimuli as the Secretary of the Board of the State Corporations Advisory Committee for a similar period.
