Danielle Rose Gibson, known as Dani Gibson or by her nickname Gibbo, is an English professional cricketer born on 30 April 2001 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
An all-rounder, she bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace.
She has represented England in international cricket since her T20I debut in 2023 and currently plays domestic cricket for Somerset and Sunrisers Leeds.
She has previously featured for teams including Western Storm, London Spirit, Gloucestershire, Wales, and Adelaide Strikers.
Growing up in a sporting family, she excelled in multiple sports including tennis, hockey, where she reached national age-group level, and school athletics before focusing on cricket.
Siblings
Dani has two older brothers, Greg Gibson and Jacob Gibson.
The brothers played a key role in her early cricket development, often joining their father Mike in feeding tennis balls to her in the backyard, where she would hit them hard and far.
Greg has publicly expressed his pride in her achievements, including emotional reactions to her selection for England squads such as the Ashes.
He has also spoken about her resilience through injuries.
Jacob has similarly been part of the family support system and childhood outings, including visits to Lord’s.
Career
Gibson made her county debut for Gloucestershire in 2014 at the age of 13.
She progressed through regional development programmes before making her debut for Western Storm in the Kia Super League.

She contributed to Western Storm’s title-winning campaign in 2019. She later represented Wales before returning to Gloucestershire.
Gibson became a key player for London Spirit in The Hundred from 2021, where she became known for her hard-hitting batting performances.
In franchise cricket, she played for Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League and helped the side during its campaign.
She has also appeared in other competitions, including the Women’s Premier League as a replacement player.
Internationally, Gibson was a travelling reserve for the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
She made her T20I debut for England against Australia on 1 July 2023 during the Ashes series at Edgbaston. She has since gone on to play numerous T20Is for England.
She made her ODI debut in 2026 against New Zealand.
In November 2024, Gibson signed with Somerset and later extended her contract through 2028. She has also featured for Sunrisers Leeds.
She has repeatedly recovered through dedicated rehabilitation while maintaining strong domestic and international form.
Accolades
Gibson was part of the Western Storm side that won the Kia Super League title in 2019. She contributed to London Spirit’s successes in The Hundred.
She also helped Adelaide Strikers during her time in the Women’s Big Bash League.
For England, she has earned selection in major series including the Ashes and multiple T20 World Cups.
She was part of the England squad that finished as runners-up at the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup hosted in England.
Her rapid rise saw her named in England Academy and development teams from her mid-teens. She has been recognised for her game-changing potential as a hard-hitting all-rounder.
