Decomposed body of woman found in house after murder in Kisii Town

Detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose decomposed body was found in her house in Nyangena area, Kisii Town.

She is believed to have been killed on Christmas Day and her body locked in a house where it was found on December 30, police said.

Neighbours had not seen her as usual and were disturbed by a bad smell emanating from the house.

This forced them to alert police who arrived there and broke in where they found the body of Magret Makori lying on the floor and wrapped with a blanket and bedsheets.

The police said the body had decomposed when it was found. The husband went missing as the neighbours became suspicious of her missing.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the murder and the hunt on the said husband is ongoing.

Neighbours said the woman had in the past been complaining of being a victim of domestic violence.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of two cousins in Lelkatet area in Bomet County after they allegedly ingested a poisonous substance.

The victims were aged 14, and 15 and were found in a room where they had been staying after swallowing an unknown substance.

According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa, the two were pronounced dead at the Longisa Referral Hospital.

Police have launched investigations to establish the nature of the substance consumed and the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive behind the apparent suicide.

The bodies of the two teenagers have since been transferred to Longisa Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.

The incident threw the village into a mourning state as the locals asked authorities to investigate the same.
