As the rift in Jubilee is said to take a new twist following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent comments that not even close political allies will be spared in the renewed war against, Deputy President William Ruto has urged Jubilee supporters not to panic.
Speaking on Sunday in Mwiki, Nairobi, during a church function, the DP said the Jubilee government is keen on its development agenda.
“We should relax. No need to worry as we are on the right track as a party in implementing our development agenda for Kenyans,” he said.
“We are firm and clear in our focus as we know where we are going.”
He slammed opposing leaders, saying they should sort the mess in their house before directing anyone on what to do.
“Those lecturing us in Jubilee on development should first sort out the mess in NASA. The Opposition is in tatters and should stop importing their confusion to the Jubilee Party,” Dr Ruto said.
His comments comes amid sharp criticism from a section of Members of Parliament from the Jubilee Party led by Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town), who are now calling for his ouster.
According to the MPs, who identify themselves as #TeamKenya, the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga has exposed the real theft of public funds.
Dr Ruto was accompanied by his political allies who have been vocal on the recent developments in the fight against graft.
They claim the DP is being targeted by his enemies in the war on corruption.
The MPs included Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Jeremiah Kioni (Ndaragwa), John Kiarie (Dagoretti South), Charles Kanyi (Starehe), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Jungle Wainaina (Thika Town) and Benjamin Mwangi (Embakasi Central).
Governor Ferdinand Waititu also attended the service at PCEA, Mwiki.
Recently, MP Jumwa was expelled from the Orange Democrartic Movement (ODM) for supporting DP Ruto’s 2022 ambitions.
Ruto came to Jumwa’s defense, saying the party was targeting women.
On their part, the legislators who accompanied DP Ruto reiterated that the opposition is using the handshake to cause a rift in Jubilee.
Ichung’wa said, “In fact, they (Opposition) have told President Uhuru Kenyatta to abandon the implementation of the Big Four agenda and focus on corruption and Deputy President William Ruto. This is all about 2022 politics.”
His sentiments were echoed by Governor Waititu, who said Jubilee should be careful while dealing with Odinga.
“We know that Raila Odinga destroyed Kanu, Narc and now NASA. We should not entertain him if our Jubilee agenda for Kenya is to be implemented,” he said.

On her part, Jumwa opined that Jubilee competitors were unfairly criticizing the Deputy President because of 2022 politics.
“Some people want to tarnish your image through fake things like corruption because of 2022 politics. Don’t bother with them. They will be ashamed of their deeds because Kenyans know development conscious leaders,” she said.
