DPP Noordin Haji will appeal the light sentencing of a former Ministry of Education cashier Perminus Njoroge Kamau.
Mr Njoroge is said to have stolen Sh12,980,000 in 2011.
On Tuesday, he was fined Sh600,000 with an alternative of serving one year in jail. This Kenyans thought was lenient.
Taking to the official ODPP twitter page, the DPP maintained that he will be appealing against the ruling.
“Former cashier with Ministry of higher education, science & technolog Perminus K. Njoroge fined sh 600,000 or 1 year imprisonment for unlawful acquisition of sh 12, 980,000 from Ministry in 2011. DPP to appeal against the sentence,” the Tweet read.

During the Anti-Corruption conference held on January 25, President Uhuru Kenyatta noted that the courts must stop “the practice of issuing injunctions against investigation of corrupt activities.
“Issuing these orders makes it easier for the Mandarins of Corruption to destroy evidence and intimidate witnesses. Kenyans have spoken, this practice must stop,” the head of state said.
“I, therefore, call upon the judiciary, and in particular, the Judicial Service Commission, to deeply reflect and correct areas of weakness that are clearly present in our judicial system,” he added.
It is also on this day that Kenyatta declared corruption a “national disaster.”
