DPP Noordin Haji Wants KFS Investigated After Sh.1.2 Billion Loss

The Director of Public prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has ordered an investigation into the loss Sh. 1.2 Billion from the Kenya forest services.

The money was lost after fraudulent dealings between the Kenya forest service and saw millers. In October, the Kenya Forest Services said that the saw millers had accumulated the debt from 2012 and that they were out to collect. The notice had been published in the local dailies

“Please note that those who owe KFS will not be eligible for e-registration unless the amounts owed are settled in full immediately,” read the notice in part.

The Kenya Forest Authority said that the had sold trees to millers amounting to 2.3 Billion but were ye to receive their dues for close to six years.

A task force had been appointed to investigate illegal logging and the rot with in Kenya Forest Service. The task force was also tasked with investigating the ow water tables.
