Driver found murdered in Sagana Town

Detectives are investigating the murder of a 69-year-old man whose body was found on the roadside in Sagana Town, Kirinyaga County.

He was identified as Githinji Maguta who was a driver in the town.

Police said the body was discovered on Sunday long after his murder with his trouser on his knees.

The body had physical injuries on the eyes, forehead and mouth.

The cause of the death was not immediately known and the body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations and autopsy.

Elsewhere in Kiambaa, Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County, the body of a man was found lying on the roadside.

The man was later identified as Kennedy Kibet, 32. The cause of the death was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.

In Maua, Igembe, Meru County, the body of one Koome Kiunga, 40 was found on the roadside after his murder.

Police said the man was accused of stealing miraa in the area when he was attacked by a mob.

The body had deep cuts on the neck, legs and stomach.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise in the past month amid efforts to address the menace.

Most of the cases are pending. Police say some of the victims are framed up and murdered by the assailants for various reasons.

Police have been advising that suspects be surrendered to authorities for processing and possible prosecution.

And police in Olokurto, Narok County are investigating an incident where the body of a man was found in a river after a suspected murder.

The body was found on the Siyabei river with injuries on the head, hands and back. The motive of the murder was not known and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
