EACC Detectives Arrest Former Siaya County Officials For Embezzling Sh22.5 Million

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on Wednesday arrested former Siaya county officials for misappropriation of funds.

They are; former Siaya County Secretary Kephas Marube, former Director Supply Chain Tobias Oloo and three proprietors of Mu-Salem Ltd.

Also facing charges are Mu-Salem directors; Arystirico Muhanda, James Okware Emondo and Felix Matibai.

They are said to have embezzled Sh22.5 million from the county coffers.

The suspects will be arraigned before an anti-corruption court in Kisumu. They will also be charged with improper award of tender for construction of prefabricated building.

In February, the commission was looking into irregular recruitment of county staff and before that all eyes were trained on Sh1 billion roads.

EACC officers were investigating the tendering process and the companies that won the tenders.

“The tenders were awarded to particular company but investigations are still ongoing,” Kisumu Regional EACC manager Ignatius Wekesa told a local daily.
