EBK Updates List of Universities Offering Engineering Courses

The Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) has released an updated list of universities in the country that offer engineering programs. The board, which regulates the quality and standards of engineering education in Kenya, said it will only register engineers who graduate from recognized programs.
“The Board shall only register persons who have pursued courses that are duly recognized by the Board,” the notice stated.
According to EBK, only three universities offer Tier I engineering programs accredited to Washington Accord standards. These are Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Strathmore University, and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
Universities offering Tier II engineering programs, accredited to local standards, include University of Nairobi, Moi University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology, Egerton University, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenyatta University, Technical University of Mombasa, Technical University of Kenya, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, University of Eldoret, Multimedia University of Kenya, Murang’a University of Technology, Machakos University, South Eastern Kenya University, Strathmore University, Taita Taveta University, University of Embu, and Chuka University.
“The Committee assures the public that it remains committed to producing competent engineers and promoting quality engineering services through regulation, capacity building, and enforcing compliance in line with its corporate mission,” the board added.
