Eight Gang Suspects Arrested Over Robberies In Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa

Detectives have arrested eight suspects believed to be part of a violent robbery gang that has been operating in different parts of the country.

The arrests were made in Mtito Andei, Makueni County, during a joint operation by the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and the DCI Headquarters Operations Team.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects had been on detectives’ radar for months over a series of violent attacks and burglaries in Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa. Businesses in these areas have suffered huge financial losses as a result of the gang’s activities.

“One of their most daring strikes occurred on the night of August 22, 2025, when 25 to 30 armed individuals stormed Century Mabati Ltd in Nakuru County. They looted steel coils, machinery, and even made away with a tuk-tuk before escaping,” the DCI said in a statement.

Investigations later linked the gang to several other high-profile robberies, including a break-in in Nyali, Mombasa. Detectives said the group’s operations were coordinated from Nairobi’s Dandora, Kenol, and Kariobangi estates.

A breakthrough came when police intercepted a lorry loaded with goods stolen from the Nyali robbery. The lorry provided crucial evidence and disrupted the gang’s supply chain.

During the same operation, police also recovered a Toyota Porte suspected to have been used as a getaway car. Crude weapons and a Century Mabati-branded apron were also seized.

The eight suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. Police said multiple charges will be filed in court, marking a significant step in dismantling the organized crime ring.
