A 25-year-old electrician was electrocuted as he and his colleagues connected internet cables to a house in Kamae area, Kasarani, Nairobi.

Police said Brian Kipngetich had been contracted to supply internet to a house in the area on April 15 when he accidently touched a live wire.

The colleagues who were with him told police they heard him scream and on rushing to the scene they found him lying unresponsive with burns.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures, police said.

Such incidents have been common in residential areas and officials blame illegal power connections and use of quacks as electricians for the same.

There is a campaign to address the menace in various places. Kenya Power and Lighting Company is leading the campaign for safer living.

Meanwhile, three people were found dead in separate incidents after suspected drowning.

Police said cases of drowning have been on the rise and attributed the same to heavy rains being experienced in the country.

The incidents were reported in Kinangop in Nyandarua County, Kasala in Kitui County and Brigadier in Bungoma County.

Police said in Nyandarua, a three-year-old boy who had been missing was found floating in river Tulasha while in Kitui another boy aged 16 drowned in an artificial dam.

In Bungoma, a man aged 22 who had been missing for days was found drowned in River Nzoia.

The bodies were moved to mortuaries pending other procedures, police said on Friday.

According to the police, more than 120 people have been killed in separate incidents linked to the floods in the country in the past three months.

The floods have displaced many families amid warnings of more rains in the April-June period.

The government says it is making efforts to help those displaced so far amid fears of disease outbreaks.
