Elgeyo Marakwet School Burns Down, Students Make Away With Unknown Amount Of Money

Students in St Peters Marakwet Boys have been sent home after burning down the school dormitory, vandalized the principal’s office and stole money from the accounts office, The students purported to be behind the incident were absent during the roll call and it was established that they had been out taking alcohol with a mission of unleashing the chaos at the school afterwards.

The form Four students had refused to sit for their mock examinations two weeks ago and tension has since been high within the school.

Evans Onyancha the Marakwet west Education director said that hey had agreed with the board to send the students home to ease the tension in the school. They called for the removal of teacher John Chebet.This incident is not new to the school as a similar episode of unrest was witnessed  in 2016 leading to the removal of the principal.

The Incidence comes barely a month after a girl set the dormitory ablaze at the Moi Girls Nairobi.
