A man who had separated from his wife for a year came back to her house and died by suicide there in Kawangware, Nairobi.

The body of Samuel Oluoch, 35 was found hanging on a roof in the house of his wife on Tuesday May 20. The man had been away since last year. He came back to the house on Tuesday morning and hanged himself there using a bedsheet.

The wife told police the deceased had been away over domestic differences. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

The motive of the incident was not known because no suicide note was found.

Elsewhere in Kayole, Nairobi, a 27-year old man died by suicide in his house. This is after he swallowed poison.

The deceased was found on his bed writhing in pain, complaining of stomach pain and told them that he had consumed poison.

Neighbours rushed him to hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to address the menace. Up to two cases are reported daily, police say.

The World Health Organisation says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties and financial difficulties.

Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder

Meanwhile, a fourth-year student at Kenyatta University was found dead in his house in Kahawa Wendani area after an illness.

The body of Bradley Webale was found lying motionless in his house at Kizito area of Mwihoko. Police officers visited the scene and found the body of the deceased lying on the floor with no visible injuries. The body was moved to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
