Excavator operator fatally crushed in incident at construction site in South C, Nairobi

An excavator operator was killed after the machine slipped and crushed him at a construction site in the Bellevue area, Nairobi.

Police said Stephen Mwanzia, 39 was loading his excavator onto a trailer on February 6 when it slipped off and trapped him fatally.

The excavator had completed digging the site when the incident happened. Police were informed and visited the scene before moving the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in City Carton area, Buruburu, Nairobi, police are investigating an incident where a man was found dead in his house. the body of Dafton gakuru, 49 was found in his house long after he had died.

Police said they are yet to establish the cause of the death. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Likoni area, Mombasa County, a two-and-half-year-old boy was killed in a fire incident.

The fire broke out and burnt down a house as the child was sleeping.

His mother said she had left him sleeping and went to collect another child from school when the incident happened.

The remains were picked up and taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

And a 21-year-old man died after being stabbed in an incident in Mukuru Kayaba, Nairobi.

The deceased was identified as Denzel Agumi and police said he was stabbed in the chest by a man in an altercation in the area.

The said assailant escaped the scene after the attack on February 6 night, police said. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police were informed of the tragedy and moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Witnesses said the assailant had intervened in an altercation between the deceased and another woman when he removed a kitchen knife from his pocket and stabbed him in the chest.

A hunt on the said assailant continued on Sunday, police said.
