A fan was killed in chaos that broke out during a match between Nairobi United and Gor Mahia at the Dandora Stadium, Nairobi.
Several other fans were injured in the chaos that prompted officials to abandon the game at 58th minute.
Property was destroyed and many people were robbed in the chaos.
Gor Mahia said the match was abandoned at 58th minute after home team (Nairobi United) equalised and their fans threw flares on the pitch and to our fans’ stand / side prompting retaliation that turned chaotic.

Police said the injured were rushed to hospitals. Many others were robbed in the chaos that broke out in and outside the stadium.
Azam OB van was partly vandalised. The group said it condemned the chaos.
“Azam Media Group condemns the series of events witnessed today at the Dandora Stadium in Nairobi Kenya, during the Live Broadcast of the Nairobi United FC v Gor Mahia FC match at 16h00, where the OB Van has been vandalized, and equipment destroyed.”
“While Azam Media Group strives to elevate and support the growth of the Kenyan Premier League by ensuring maximum visibility of the League through the Live Broadcasts, such incidents of vandalism will not only be a setback but also paints a gloomy picture of the Kenyan Premier League,” the group said in a statement.
It added none of their staff members was injured.
“We continue to monitor the situation in collaboration with the Football Kenya Federation, and we will issue a comprehensive report shortly.”
The highly anticipated match was halted with the score tied at 1–1 after violent scenes erupted in the stands, overshadowing what had been an intense contest on the pitch.
Record champions Gor Mahia had taken a 1–0 lead at halftime thanks to a well-taken goal by Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw, who capitalised on defensive hesitation to put K’Ogalo ahead.
However, Nairobi United responded strongly after the restart, drawing level in the 59th minute through Ovella Ochieng.
The midfielder showed composure to finish off a perfectly weighted long ball from goalkeeper Ernest Mohammed, sending the home supporters into celebration.
Moments later, disorder broke out in the stands as Gor Mahia supporters breached neutral zones and clashed with Nairobi United fans.
Match officials halted play as security struggled to restore order, forcing the abandonment of the match, with players left watching helplessly from the pitch.
The FKF is expected to issue a statement and determine the outcome of the fixture following the disturbing scenes.
Police said they are investigating the chaos, robbery and murder.
