Farmhand kills girlfriend, dies by suicide in village in Kitui

A farm hand was found dead after he had murdered his girlfriend in a murder-suicide incident in Enziu village, Mwingi, Kitui County.
Police said the man is believed to have killed the woman identified as Elizabeth Mutethya, 25 before he died by suicide few meters away from the scene.
The bodies of the two were Tuesday found lying almost 200 meters apart long after the bizarre incident.
Police said they had yet to know the motive of the incident.
The body of the woman was found dumped in a bush with her throat slit.
It also had stab wounds right side of the head, under the right eye and left hand fingers, police said.
Locals then led police to another scene where the body of the man aged about was hanging on a tree with a rope tied around his neck.
At the scene of suicide, a hand bag believed to belong to the murder victim was recovered and contained two smart phones which had been switched off and a police abstract form bearing her name.
The deceased is believed to have been employed as a farm hand within the area and had worked for the last one year.
It was further established that the two deceased persons were lovers and had been sighted together severally in that village by the neighbours.
The murder weapon was not recovered at the scene after a thorough search. The bodies were moved to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Such incidents have been on the rise with love triangles being linked to the same. They are under probe.
Elsewhere in Dagahaley, Garissa County, police are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body in a bushy area.
Police said the deceased was identified as Yunnis Omar Ali, 38 and a Somali national who was a refugee in the area.
He was last seen on March 17 in the area.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures, police said.
