World’s football body FIFA has suffered cyber-attack for the second time in two years.

The US Department of Justice and the FBI said that Russia’s military intelligence body was responsible for the initial attack in 2016.

It led to evidence from anti-doping investigations and lab results being published.

FIFA is yet to provide details about the data gained in the latest attack on e-mail systems.

The Zurich-based body said in a statement that it “condemns any attempts to compromise the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data in any organization using unlawful practices.”

When probed on what could get published, FIFA boss Gianni Infantino said “the questions we received, we answered.”

“My job entails having discussions, exchanging documents, drafts, ideas, whatever, on many, many, many topics. Otherwise you don’t go anywhere.”

Football has been hit by release of confidential information in recent years.

“Football Leaks” has released details on the financial arrangements of top footballers which has led to tax evasion convictions.

They also obtained 2010 non-disclosure agreement that saw five-time world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo accused of a rape allegation he denies.
