Carl Filip Anton Forsberg, known professionally as Filip Forsberg, is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward born on August 13, 1994, in Östervåla, Sweden.
He shoots right-handed and primarily plays as a left winger.
He serves as an alternate captain for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League and has spent his entire NHL career with the organization after being selected 11th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and subsequently traded to Nashville.
Despite sharing a common Swedish surname with Hockey Hall of Famer Peter Forsberg, the two are not related.
Forsberg is married to American country music singer Erin Alvey, with whom he has a son named Felix, and he is a known supporter of Liverpool FC.

Filip has one younger brother, Fredrik Forsberg, who was born around 1996 and has also pursued a professional ice hockey career.
The brothers grew up in a hockey-oriented family after their parents, former player Patrik Forsberg and Carina Dahlberg, relocated from Östervåla to Leksand when Filip was about five years old.
Fredrik has followed a path through Swedish hockey systems, including time with Leksands IF, and has played for clubs such as HV71, BIK Karlskoga, and more recently Björklöven in HockeyAllsvenskan, where he has been a key contributor, including helping the team earn promotion to the SHL.

Career
Forsberg developed through the Leksands IF youth and junior system in Sweden, making early impressions in junior leagues and earning attention with strong performances at international junior tournaments.
After being drafted by Washington, he was traded to the Nashville Predators in April 2013 in exchange for Martin Erat and Michael Latta.
He made his NHL debut shortly thereafter and established himself as a full-time contributor by the 2014-15 season.
Over more than a decade with Nashville, Forsberg has become one of the franchise’s all-time leading scorers, setting multiple team records including career goals and single-season goal totals, while helping the Predators reach the playoffs repeatedly, including a deep run to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.
He has also represented Sweden at various levels, contributing to national team success in World Junior Championships, World Championships, and other international competitions such as the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Accolades
Forsberg’s individual honors include selection to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2015 after a strong debut full season in which he finished fourth in Calder Trophy voting, along with appearances in the NHL All-Star Game in 2015 and 2024.
He earned a spot on the NHL Second All-Star Team following the 2023-24 season.
On the international stage, he has collected medals with Sweden, including gold at the 2012 World Junior Championship, silver medals at the 2011 and 2012 IIHF World U18 Championships, silver at the 2013 and 2014 World Juniors, and gold at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, among other recognitions.
He was named World Junior MVP and Best Forward in 2014, and earned All-Star Team honors at the World Juniors in 2013 and 2014, as well as Best Forward at the 2012 World U18 Championship.
